Language courses

1. Can you tell me about VTG teachers? Where do we study?

Our native speaker qualified Vietnamese language teachers can train you and your colleagues at your office or home at a time to suit you. Classes can be any day of the week (even weekends) in the morning, afternoon or evening. In certain circumstances, if your home or office is not suitable, you can take your classes at the trainer's office. Course books are provided.

2. How many types of courses do you provide?

One-to-One Business Vietnamese Course

These Vietnamese courses are intended for people who really need to learn Vietnamese to help make that difference in their work. For beginners, it will be useful to learn greetings and basic business etiquette; at higher levels reading and then writing become more important. Typical students include those involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where an additional language is required, and those working with international colleagues, academia and government. Even on our most basic course for Beginners, students should expect to end the course with basic Telephone Vietnamese and e-mail Vietnamese skills for communications as well as Survival Vietnamese required for short visits to a country.

One-to-One General Vietnamese Course

These Vietnamese courses are more general in nature and are targeted at students with a whole range of different needs. While all beginners’ level students can expect to cover Survival Vietnamese - required for short visits to a country where English may not be spoken and/or the intention is to make good contacts with the local population, students then generally progress in different directions depending on their needs. Typical students include those buying property overseas, spouses of overseas nationals, people about to set off on that long-awaited world trip, Vietnamese culture enthusiasts and those who are keen to pass a particular Vietnamese examination.

Two-to-One and Group Vietnamese Courses

The Vietnamese courses are also available for 2 or more people studying together. All participants must have the same level, the same business or general language needs and be able to study at the same time in the same location. The booking must be made for all participants at the same time.

3. How to book a Vietnamese Language Course at VTG?

Take our Vietnamese Language Level Test - if you are a Complete Beginner, this is not necessary.

Fill out our Vietnamese Language Needs Analysis - this will help us determine the most suitable course and trainer for you at the time and location of your choice.

We then contact you with a quote (cost and number of classes). Our typical course length is 30 hours per level (classes are usually 1.5 hours each).

If you are satisfied with our quote, we then take a deposit (payable by cheque or cash)

We then confirm the time and location of your classes and send you the details of your Vietnamese language trainer.

We then organize your Vietnamese course materials and send them to you together with your invoice.

Your Vietnamese classes begin.

After your first few classes, we discuss your progress with you and the trainer and check that you are delighted with the course. Where necessary, we will change the course focus and/or the trainer (this is not very common).

At the end of your course, we present you with a course attendance and completion certificate.

We review the course and propose future learning opportunities (including self-study, Vietnamese courses in Vietnam and further Vietnamese courses with Language Trainers).

4. What happens if I don't like the tutor?
In the unlikely event that you do not get on with your tutor, we will arrange a suitable replacement. We appreciate all comments from students. The first lesson is complimentary so that you can determine whether or not my teaching style is right for you. If you are not satisfied with our teacher, please tell us and we can deal the problem as soon as possible.

5. Is there a price difference if you're 2-6 persons rather than one?

The cost of the lesson usually depends on the number of attending students. For example, a one-to-one lesson at our centre costs $7/ hour whereas a two-to-one lesson is $10/hour.

Please contact us for more information

6. Can I have lesson with my friends?

If you would like to study with a friend, you can share the cost of the lesson. This allows you to spilt the cost, but it will only work if both of you are at the same level. If one of you has more fluency than the other or study harder than the other, the shared lesson time will not work as well.

7. Have you got different courses?

We provide different courses to different students from total beginners to advanced learners.

You can attend a face-to-face class at either our centre or any place which is suitable to you.

We also have another choice for you. Besides face-to-face classes, we have online class.

I hope you will have useful lessons with our centre. I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.

8. How do I know my language level?
Your tutor will provide a thorough assessment at the beginning of your course. Complete Beginners do not need to take any initial tests.

9. How do I know how many lessons I need?
This depends very much on your aims and we can advise you on this. For Complete Beginners wishing to reach a Survival level, we recommend 30 hours (15x2-hours sessions).

10. What qualifications do your teachers have?
All our teachers (tutors) are native speakers and either holds a specific qualification in teaching their language as a foreign language or hold a university degree on their own language and/or literature.

11. Can I just pay for the first lesson and see if I like it?
Yes, you can have 1 trial lesson and before decide to go with the whole course.

12. Do I get a certificate at the end of the course?
Yes. All participants receive a certificate of Completion at the end of the course detailing the language studied, the number of hours, and the level achieved.

13. Can I pay monthly or do I have to pay for the whole course in advance?
Lessons are paid for in advance. As soon as this is received the course can start - we then invoice you for the remainder of the lessons. We do not currently accept monthly payments.
